Getting A Pup

         Getting a Pet?
         Where to get one?
Well, here in Metro Manila, one might say, "Go to Cartimar!" or to Tiendesitas! Before trying one of those, better check first those places if the dogs or cats being sold are healthy.
I've watched a video on Youtube where this girl got her first pet at Cartimar. A couple of days her dog got sick, having colds, fever, loosing appetite and so fort. So they decided to have it checked by a Veterinarian. Sadly, the dog was infected by a viral disease which is Distemper. It affects gastrointestinal, respiratory and central nervous system in dogs. Dogs get it through other animals even objects, airborne exposure, as well as through the placenta (from mothers).

I could say it's hard to get a pet. Cats does have one as well, which is Feline Distemper. But dogs can't pass (CDV) Canine Distemper Virus to cats. Good thing. And It's a relief. If you have feline at home. It's a different virus.
Have you heard OLX? It's a buy and sell site. It was SULIT.com before. Here's where I got my first pup! A tricolor Shih tzu. Some post just one picture. I wonder how will they sell their pups or cats?  How will serious buyers appreciate the animals?
I had a hard time deciding. Most pets don't have papers. Like (PCCI) Philippine Canine Club, Inc. papers. A registry of pure-bred dogs. It's like a birth certificate. It serves as a record of your dogs identity. Also parentage back to four generations. Purebred means that the sire (father) and Dam (mother) of a dog are members of a recognized breed. PCCI papers shows the dogs parents, even the parent's parent are likewise registered.
Finding the right pup well, I know what I want. But the price is a factor too. With the PCCI document, color, size (like teacup), it's getting more expensive. I strongly suggest get a pup at least (3) months old. Has completed vaccines based on its age, and dewormed just to be sure it's healthy upon bringing it home. Usually dogs manifest diseases as I've red, after having a new home. Of course breeders is just after the money, mostly I say. But pet lovers doesn't know how dogs breeders take care of these animals. I even red some pets at Tiendesitas not having proper ventilation living with their wastes.
That situation makes pets sick. So upon bring it home that's where the diseases shows up.
Just to be sure, visit the kennel where dogs are bred. It takes a deal of money to have a pet, it takes time, and money and patience taking care of this cute animals. It will be hard for you and for them if they get sick and look miserable because of the diseases they already had. It didn't took long for both of you to have happy and bonding moments. So Take care of them and get them vaccinated regularly if you love them and decided to have them part of your life. It's a responsibility. :)
